Portland Center Stage just changed its lineup; the final show of the season will now be It Ain’t Nothin’ but the Blues, a musical revue that follows the blues from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago.
Equally inspired by the cover art from one of my favorite white boy British blues bands, Fleetwood Mac, and the art of a fellow Portlander, Dan Dalton, I got to painting.
That’s my crappy classical guitar from Spain taking the spotlight. I bought it while I lived in Granada in 2006. My friend, Alex, and I would jam—me on guitar, him on bongos and harmonica—on cold March nights until our hands got numb.
Though we sucked (this isn’t modesty, this is honesty), we often joked about forming a band called Los Azules.
