No, the problem with hype is that it transforms the use value of a would-be work of art into its exchange value. For in the middle (there’s no end) of the hype cycle, the important thing is no longer what a song, movie, or book does to you. The big question is its relationship to its reputation.

New census data on biking to work says Minneapolis...
Methinks Colin is dreaming. Portland just elected bike-aholic Sam Adams as mayor. With the boost in funding and soaring gas prices, bike commuting will likely increase over the next few years. My guess is Twin Cities will be firmly seated beneath Portland for a while, but kudos to you if you do surpass us.
